This is an orchestration of a hymn called Christ Jesus Lay In Death's Strong Bands
with lyrics by Martin Luther, and music from Walter's Geistliche Gesangbuchlein, 1524...
So the melodies found in my piece are taken from the hymn, but the arrangement is unique.
It is a bit somber or melancholy sounding, perhaps expressive of Christ having to go through death.
However, there are also hopeful tones in the piece, expressing the hope of resurrection and the salvation He brings.
